Topics include the anatomy of the changing body, nutrition, labor and birth information, use of breathing techniques and relaxation methods, comfort measures and emotional adjustments. Recommended Weeks 25 or later or for mothers expecting multiples at Week 20. Includes: Book, "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey through Prepared Childbirth" and a light meal. Participants should bring two bed pillows to each class. Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. NOTE: This class is "per couple" so one enrollment covers the mother and companion. PLEASE REGISTER ONLY THE MOTHER.

Recommended Week 25-40 -- Week 20-24 for mothers expecting multiples. INCLUDES: Book, "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey Through Prepared Childbirth" and breakfast. Participants should bring two bed pillows to the class. Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. This class offers an in-depth review of breastfeeding. You will learn the benefits and methods of breastfeeding as well as gaining information on bottle feeding. Recommended Week 28 or later. Includes a book, "Breastfeeding: A Great Start," and light meal.

Grandparents Class

|
Grandparents must remember that things have changed since their babies were born. This class for grandparents offers updated information on newborn care, safety in the home, emergency procedures and establishing a positive relationship with the new grandchild. Grandmothers and grandfathers are welcome to attend. Registration Information: A separate registration is required for each grandparent attending.

Newborn Care

Class topics include: caring for the newborn, when to call the pediatrician, basic home care (including childhood illnesses) and making purchases for the baby, dealing with issues of cost, safety and durability of products. Recommended Week 28 or later. A book is included: "The Joy of Parenthood: Your Personal Journey Through Newborn Care." Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. Siblings Class

This class is for brothers and sisters age 3 to 8. A parent must accompany the child. It offers a tour of the labor and delivery unit and the opportunity to make a small gift for the new baby. Topics discussed include what the baby will look like, preparation for taking the baby home, what it means to share and what to expect from a new baby. An activity booklet and craft materials are provided. Recommended for children whose mothers are 28 weeks pregnant or later. Registration Information: A separate enrollment is required for each child. NOTE: This class covers both the child and the parent. It is not necessary to enroll the parent. Please enroll ONLY the child.

Teen Pregnancy - Healthy Steps

This class is designed for teens to help them prepare for the challenges of pregnancy, delivery and beyond. A companion may accompany the mother-to-be. If the mother is attending alone, just type ALONE in the field for the companion. If a companion is attending with the mother, put that person's name in the blank.
