WK Prenatal Classes
Willis’s Baby Bear Club prenatal classes are designed to help guide parents-to-be through this exciting phase of their lives. If you are an expectant mother, father or grandparent anticipating the arrival of a new baby, please take a few minutes to review the Frequently Asked Questions about the prenatal classes before making your class choices. This section includes guidelines about when the classes should be taken, who should attend and other helpful information.
 
Breastfeeding class
This class offers an in-depth review of breastfeeding. You will learn the benefits and methods of breastfeeding as well as gain information on bottle feeding. Regiser to take this class at Week 28 or later. Includes a book, "Breastfeeding: A Great Start," and light meal.

Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. It is not necessary to complete a separate enrollment for the companion as the class fee is "per couple."

Build a Better Body for Your Baby
Build a Better Body for Your Baby should be taken within the first trimester. Proper nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes are thoroughly discussed. This prepares mothers-to-be for the physical and emotional changes experienced during pregnancy. A healthy meal is included. This class is for mothers only.




Childbirth Preparation
Childbirth Preparation is a three-week in-depth childbirth education series for mother and father or companion. Topics include the anatomy of the changing body, nutrition, labor and birth information, use of breathing techniques and relaxation methods, comfort measures and emotional adjustments. Register to take this class at Weeks 25 or later. For mothers expecting multiples register to take this class at Week 20 to 24. Includes: Book, "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey through Prepared Childbirth" and a light meal. Participants should bring two bed pillows to each class.

Childbirth Preparation Express
Childbirth Preparation Express is an abbreviated version of "Childbirth Preparation" designed for parents with busy lifestyles. The class reviews the anatomy of the changing body, nutrition, labor and birth information, use of breathing patterns and relaxation methods, comfort measures and emotional adjustments. Register to take this class at Week 25 or later. If expecting multiples at Week 20 to 24.

INCLUDES: Book, "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey Through Prepared Childbirth". Breakfast and lunch are provided. Participants should bring two bed pillows to the class.

Grandparents Class
Grandparents must remember that things have changed since their babies were born. This class for grandparents offers updated information on newborn care, safety in the home, emergency procedures and establishing a positive relationship with the new grandchild. Grandmothers and grandfathers are welcome to attend.

Registration Information:
A separate registration is required for each grandparent attending.

Newborn Care
Class topics include: caring for the newborn, when to call the pediatrician, basic home care (including childhood illnesses) and making purchases for the baby, dealing with issues of cost, safety and durability of products. Register to take this class at Week 28 or later. A book is included: "The Joy of Parenthood: Your Personal Journey Through Newborn Care."
Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. It is not necessary to complete a separate enrollment for the companion as the class fee is "per couple."

Prenatal Tour (Bossier) & Anesthesia
This class includes anesthesia training and is REQUIRED for all who are delivering at WK Bossier. It offers couples a first-hand look at the patient rooms and areas where care is provided to mother and newborn. It includes a walking tour and the opportunity to preregister. Register to take this class at Week 28 or later.

This class gives couples a first-hand look at the patient rooms and the areas of the hospital where care is delivered to mother and the newborn. Information covers admission procedures and what the patient can expect. A walking tour is included and mothers can preregister at this time. This class must be taken at the location where you are delivering. Register to take this class Week 28 or later.

Information covers admission procedures and what the patient can expect. A walking tour is included and mothers can preregister with Admitting at this time. This class must be taken at the location where you are delivering. Register for Week 28 or later.

Siblings Class
This class is for brothers and sisters age 3 to 8. A parent must accompany the child. It offers a tour of the labor and delivery unit and the opportunity to make a small gift for the new baby. Topics discussed include what the baby will look like, preparation for taking the baby home, what it means to share and what to expect from a new baby. An activity booklet and craft materials are provided.Each child needs to bring a stuffed animal or doll. This is recommended for children whose mothers are at Week 28 or later.
Registration Information:
A separate enrollment is required for each child.

NOTE: This class covers both the child and the parent. It is not necessary to enroll the parent. Please ENROLL ONLY THE CHILD.

Teen Pregnancy - Healthy Steps
This class is designed for teens to help them prepare for the challenges of pregnancy, delivery and beyond. A companion may accompany the mother-to-be.
Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. If the mother is attending alone, just type ALONE in the field for the companion. If a companion is attending with the mother, put that person's name in the blank.
