Note: For classes eligible for a refund, the refund policy requires you to call at least one week in advance to cancel. Refunds will be issued, less a $10 administrative fee.

WK Prenatal Classes
Education is critical as you take this new step in your life. The Willis-Knighton Prenatal Education Program is designed to help guide expectant parents through this exciting phase of their lives. If you are a mother, father or grandparent anticipating the arrival of a new baby, please take a few minutes to review the Frequently Asked Questions before selecting classes. This section includes guidelines about when the classes should be taken, who should attend and other helpful information. AHA Family & Friends CPR
American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR is ideal for new or expectant parents, grandparents, babysitters and anyone interested in learning how to save a life. This course includes instructions for life-saving CPR and relief from choking for adults, children and infants. This friends and family class does not officially certify you in CPR.

Breastfeeding Class
An in-depth review of breastfeeding for new or experienced mothers. International Board Certified Lactation Consultants demonstrate the proper techniques to hold and latch your baby when breastfeeding to ensure the most effective results. Questions and concerns will be addressed such as: Do I have enough milk? What should I look for? What do I need to breastfeed: What if I need to pump? A companion or the labor support person is invited to accompany mothers and learn their role in the feeding process.

Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes. This class is "per couple", so one enrollment covers the mother and companion.

Build a Better Body
The experts teach moms-to-be about proper nutrition and exercise routines to follow during each trimester of pregnancy. This class prepares you for the lifestyle and physical changes during pregnancy. It's best to take this class during the first trimester of your pregnancy, but any time is acceptable to enroll. After this class, a free trial of prenatal yoga is offered to moms who wish to participate. prenatal yoga is optional. If you love prenatal yoga, the six-week session officially begins the following week.

Childbirth Preparation
"A class designed to prepare expectant parents for the birth of their child in a hospital setting. This class covers basic breathing and relaxation techniques, what to expect during labor and delivery, options for managing pain, preparation for the postpartum period and more. Parents will complete the class online at their own pace and may attend a live session with the instructor to review and practice techniques."

Register to take this class at 24 weeks or later. For mothers expecting multiples, register to take this class at weeks 20 to 24.

Materials - Online access to "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey through Prepared Childbirth," and a healthy meal. Participants should bring two bed pillows to class.

Registration Information: The mother should register under her name and complete the special areas on the enrollment screen for prenatal classes.

This class is "per couple", so one enrollment covers the mother and companion/labor support person.

Childbirth Preparation Express
An alternate version of Childbirth Preparation in a full day class. The express class covers the same material in a more concise format and does not include online access to class content.

Materials - "The Gift of Motherhood: Your Personal Journey through Prepared Childbirth," and a healthy breakfast and light lunch. Participants should bring two bed pillows to the class.

Childbirth Preparation for Teens
A tailored childbirth preparation class offered for expectant teen mothers. This class will prepare the mother for childbirth in a hospital setting, discuss all option for pain control, and prepare her for the postpartum period. This class is offered free of charge for those younger than 20 years of age.

Grandparents Class
New and expectant grandparents will learn the latest information about newborn care, safety in the home, and how to respond in case of an emergency. We will discuss their role in the new grandchild's life and the importance of this special relationship. Extended family members who wish to learn more about caring for the new addition to the family are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments are provided.

How to Strengthen the Prenatal Core
How to strengthen the core during pregnancy: A strong core during pregnancy helps
minimize back pain, helps mom push during labor,reduces incontinence and helps mom rehab more quickly after her baby is born. In this 60-minute class, you'll learn through demonstration and discussion:

* Why prenatal core training is important

* Five safe and effective core and pelvic floor exercises that you can do while pregnant

* Abdominal exercises to avoid while pregnant

*The neutral spine and why it's important

Mother/Baby Yoga
Bring your infant with you for a gentle yoga class that focuses on the needs of a new mother including gentle core work, overall body toning, and rejuvenating yoga postures. The class involves your infant as weights, as well as some shared mama/baby poses and infant massage. This is a place where your baby can be free to nurse, nap, play and bond with you.

Newborn Care
This class will prepare new parents for what to expect immediately after the birth of the baby and help them to transition into caring for the baby at home. Attendees will learn the basics of care such as diapering and bathing. We will also discuss how to create a safe environment for baby, recognize indicators of baby's health, and respond to emergencies. It is recommended to attend the Breast-feeding Class for additional information regarding feeding your baby.

Postnatal Abs: Core Restore
A common concern for many new moms is getting rid of the "postpartum belly." Resuming intense exercise too quickly is detrimental to restoring the body to its pre-pregnancy state. Correct exercise technique and body alignment will help your body heal and get those muscles working properly again. Learn through demonstration and discussion:

* How your abdominals change during pregnancy

* What is "Diastasis recti," that "separation" or "gap" between your abdominal muscles that you may experience and how to check for it

* How posture can affect your core restoration

* Five safe and effective exercises to help "flatten the belly" and restore the core (Guess what? No crunches involved!)

Fitness Center membership is not required.

Prenatal Tour (Bossier)
REQUIRED for patients delivering at WK Bossier Health Center

This class includes anesthesia education and information regarding the epidural process. Couples get a first-hand look at the patient rooms and areas where care is provided to mother and newborn. It includes a walking tour and the opportunity to pre-register. To ease the process of pre-registration, please bring the completed patient preadmission form (located in the Prenatal Education Book), a copy of your driver's license and a front and back copy of your insurance card. Register to take this class at week 26 or later.

Prenatal Tour (Pierremont)
This class gives couples a first-hand look at the patient rooms and areas of the hospital where care is delivered to mother and newborn. Information covers admission procedures and what to expect as a patient. A walking tour is included and mothers can pre-register at this time. Prenatal Yoga
This class is designed to take pregnant women through a safe yetchallenging practice modified for specific needs through eachtrimester. Learn to stretch and strengthen your body, focus and relaxyour mind, control breathing and develop awareness. The relaxed andnurturing environment is a wonderful way to connect to your growingbaby and honor your changing body during this special time.Fitness Center membership is not requiredFee: $60.00

Siblings Class
This class is for soon-to-be brothers and sisters ages 3 and up. Topics discussed include what the baby will look like, preparation for taking the baby home, what to expect from a new baby and how to help mom and dad. Children will receive "Our New Baby...and ME!" coloring book and tour the nursery and postpartum unit. Each child should bring a stuffed animal or doll to participate in diapering and swaddling. This is recommended for children whose mothers are at week 26 or later. A parent must attend with the child. Light refreshments are provided.

Registration Information: A separate enrollment is required for each child. This class covers both the child and the parent. It is not necessary to enroll the parent. PLEASE ENROLL ONLY THE CHILD.




WK Pregnancy Fit: Training for the Main Event
This 60-minute total body conditioning class for expectant
moms is the ultimate "head-to-baby-to-toe" workout
to help you prepare for the "sport of motherhood."
Interval programming includes cardio, strength training,
core and pelvic floor conditioning, yoga based cool
down and an active relaxation segment.
Physician clearance is required to participate.

Fitness Center membership is not required.
